Copper coil wound around a single magnet, vibrating at 396 hz (the frequency of the root chakra (A), dipped into a shell of menstrual blood, to be held and contemplated by the listener. A sonic embodied meditation on raw feminine power.

“The whole body will become an ear, and all sounds will come to you, the known and the unknown, the sweet, the sad, the urgent.” (Schafer, 2003, p.71)

About Shakti:

Shakti, the primordial cosmic energy, represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the                    universe. Adi Shakti is considered to be the original creator of the universe. She is the power that protects and           destroys. She represents the fertile, bountiful earth, and is the protector of all life forms. All goddesses are                    considered to be a manifestation of her.

About Embodied Listening:

“Sound works designed for the body tend to bear strong sense of ritual, conjoining physical spaces with their metaphysical complements an encounter of real and imagined spaces, wrought in the body, produces alternating fields of vibration - at times beating positively to create an augmented awareness of self, spirit, and surrounding; at other times clashing to reveal the limits of the body; that it is socially determined and determining; that it is an instrument of control; that, ultimately, it fails the user” (Embodied Sound: Aural Architectures and the Body by Gascia Ouzounian)

“An interesting phenomenon occurs when different vibrating things/processes come into proximity: they will often start, after a little time, to vibrate together at the same frequency. They “sync up,” sometimes in ways that can seem mysterious (1).” Scientific American
